Factory gate prices down 0.7pc in April, up overall annually
Monthly factory gate prices decreased by 0.7pc in April 2017, according to the latest statistics from the Central Statistics Office.
However prices are up 1.8pc overall for the past twelve months to April 2017.
The most significant changes in the month was a decrease in basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, which decreased by 2.7pc in April.
Meanwhile, meat and meat products increased in price by 1.9pc for the month.
In the twelve months to April 2017, there was an increase of 1.6pc in the price index for export sales (this can be influenced by currency fluctuations) and an increase of 3.8pc in respect of the price index for home sales.
Contributing to the overall annual change were increases in the price of dairy products, up 18.4pc, as well as increases in computer, electronic and optical products, up 6.5pc.
The price of other food products including bread and confectionery also rose by 5.7pc annually, however there were decreases in the price of other manufacturing products including medical and dental instruments and supplies, down 6.4pc, as well as printing and reproduction of recorded media products, down 3.8pc.
Building and construction All materials prices increased by 3.4pc annually to April 2017, with the most notable yearly changes taking place in glass, up 21.7pc, sand and gravel, up 19.6pc and stone, up 8.7pc.
The CSO figures also show that the price of energy products has increased by 13.8pc in the year since April 2016, while petroleum fuels increased by 13.9pc in the twelve months.
