European thought leaders in AI and blockchain gather at Dublin conference
More than 100 delegates gathered at a niche conference to explore the advances in digital agility, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology.
Speakers and experts from 24 countries, including Brazil, the US and Russia, attended the two-day event in Dublin's Marker Hotel.
Originally launched in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the aim of Quest for Quality is to bring thought leaders and experts in the industry to network and discuss the newest tech trends.
Lead sponsor of the conference, Comtrade Digital Services (part of the global Comtrade Solutions Group), opened its new global headquarters in Dublin earlier this year.
Largely based in Slovenia, the software engineering services and solutions provider has had a presence in Ireland since 2001.
It offers these services and consultancy to a number of firms in Ireland including Ryanair.
Comtrade Digital Services' decision to move its global HQ to Sandyford is part of a strategic plan for better access to target markets in Europe and the US.
"This has been the best year ever for us; it has now been four years of constant, double-digit growth for us," Business Director of Comtrade Digital Services, Dejan Ćušić told Independent.ie.
"Moving our HQ to Dublin also helped with local plans; it shows that we are here and we are here to stay, they recognise that."
The company, which has 1,500 employees globally, also intends to tap into the skilled local talent here and expand its Irish team further.
"We were optimistic considering the macro situation - and our historical growth - but we are well on target to meet our expectations," said Mr Ćušić.
Viktor Kovacevic, Vice President and General Manager at Comtrade Digital Services, said that the company vision is to deliver true innovation and leverage emerging technologies to enable businesses to evolve and grow globally.
He also said that, across the UK and Irish market, the company will focus more on Ireland this year and next as they wait to see what impact Brexit will have.
"For one, we are waiting to see the economic standpoint of the UK market itself but we are also looking at the labour market. For example, fintech is one industry that we have a significant presence in; we need to see how fintech providers will react."
Speakers at Quest for Quality this year included representatives from leading companies including Pinterest, Intel, Salesforce, GetTaxi, Tricentis and Applitools.
