EURO General Retail, the company behind the Euro 2 discount store chain, has signed a new lease on a unit of circa 8,000 sq ft at Dublin's Northside Shopping Centre.

The 10-year lease, with five-year rent review, was agreed at a rate of approximately €200,000 per annum.

The new superstore will trade under the new EuroGiant brand and will stock a larger range of top brands than the existing Euro 2 stores.

It will carry 4,000 items priced at €2 or less, with nearly 1,000 new products to be rolled out in the coming weeks for €1. An additional 12 stores are due to open between July and September.

Paul Fahey of Bannons, who acted for Euro 2 in securing the Northside unit, commented: ‘The retail market is a tough place to be at the present minute, but there is still a lot of opportunity out there for retailers given market rents and a willingness from landlords to be realistic when it comes to rents and commercial terms.’
