Brid Horan has been named the new deputy chief executive of the ESB.
The former director at accountancy firm KPMG joined the semi-state body in 1997 as group pensions manager. She held that role until 2006, when she became an executive director at Electric Ireland, ESB's consumer arm.
Ms Horan was also a non-executive director at the IDA for 10 years and was a non-executive commissioner at the National Pensions Reserve Fund between 2001 and 2009.
In her new role, she's replacing outgoing deputy chief executive John Shine, who's leaving the ESB at the end of this month following 31 years with the company. He is joining Eircom.
John Shine joined the ESB in 1978 and left in 1998 before rejoining in 2002.
