Enda Kenny attending Paris conference on youth unemployment
TAOISEACH Enda Kenny is attending a conference in Paris today on youth unemployment.
There are 5.5 million unemployed people under 25 in the 28 member European Union, figures from Eurostat show.
While the issue is a problem in Ireland where the rate stands at 28pc, the biggest problem is in Greece where 57pc of those under 25 are out of work.
The conference is being hosted by Fench President Francois Hollande.
Other leaders attending include German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta where they will unveil proposed measures to tackle the problem.
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said earlier this month that the issue was one of the biggest problems in southern Europe.
