Employers hail reform of Leaving Cert

THE major reform of the Leaving Cert and college entry system proposed by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has been welcomed by IBEC, writes Sarah McCabe.

The employers' group said it is difficult to predict future demand for skills, and backed more generalised college courses that allow students to specialise later.

"We welcome the proposal to simplify student choice by broadening the entry routes into the arts, science, business and engineering faculties," says IBEC policy officer Tony Donohoe.
