EirGrid chief Slye to quit in UK switch
EirGrid boss Fintan Slye is leaving to take up a new job in the UK.
Mr Slye will take on a new role with National Grid UK running their UK gas and electricity system operator.
He has informed the EirGrid board that he will be leaving at the end of the year.
Board chairman John O'Connor thanked Mr Slye for his leadership and commitment.
"He has a deep knowledge of the electricity industry and led a process of significant change within the company which included a programme on integrating renewables onto the Irish electricity grid known as DS3," Mr O'Connor said.
"This resulted in wind generated electricity reaching a peak of 78pc of total demand at times in 2016.
"He also led a new approach on developing the grid in Ireland with particular emphasis on improved public consultation."
EirGrid said its board will now start the hunt to find a successor.
