EIRCOM has announced the appointment of an interim chief financial officer as it continues to hunt for a replacement for Peter Cross, who left the company in a surprise move just before Christmas.
Mark Wilson will take up the role until a permanent replacement is found. He has held senior financial roles with companies including Arthur Anderson, water company Severn Trent and International Leisure Group.
Mr Cross left Eircom in December, following what are understood to have been disagreements with chief executive Paul Donovan over the restructuring of the telco's almost €4bn debt.
Lenders remain uncertain as to what course the company should take to avoid breaching covenants.
Mr Donovan said Mr Wilson was used in his previous positions to working in "challenging environments" where "knowledge of large-scale capital-intensive regulated businesses and the management of the balance sheet are critical."
