A Dublin-based car rental company is doubling its workforce by linking up with a leading European brand.

Sixt Rent A Car Ireland, operating as County Car Rentals for the past 60 years, is expanding its workforce from 23 to 46.

Sixt rent a car is Germany's largest vehicle renting company.

County Car Rentals won the franchise for Ireland and will now operate under the Sixt brand.

Since 1952, County Car Rentals, based in Dun Laoghaire, has been owned and managed by the Loughran family.

The company has grown to become the country's independent car rental company.

Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore officially launched the franchise partnership today.

The expansion has already created 11 new jobs with 12 more to follow.
