More than 1,000 property sector professionals helped raise €350,000 for Dublin Simon Community and other charities at the Dragons at the Docks regatta held at Grand Canal Dock, Dublin.

The dragon boat racing competition saw 78 teams compete.

The overall winner was the team from Kennedy Wilson, with construction firm BAM in second place, and lawyers William Fry coming home third in a competitive final.

Ten of Ireland's biggest property companies are the cornerstone sponsors of the third year of the event, with Lioncor joining this year to support the event, alongside Cairn Homes, Dalata, Glenveagh, Green Reit, Hammerson, Hibernia REIT, Hines, Ires Reit and Kennedy Wilson.

To date the event has raised more than €893,000, with 75pc of the funds going to the Dublin Simon Community, and the balance to be distributed to local charities in the Grand Canal Dock area.

More than €12,000 of the funds raised this year came from sponsors of the 'Dunk Your Boss' event, in which CEOs got a soaking in aid of a good cause.

Sam McGuinness, Dublin Simon Community CEO, said the event will help provide life changing support.

"This year, the funds raised will acquire 10 more homes," he said.

"A total of 21 apartments and houses will have been acquired and 25 people provided with permanent, safe homes as a direct result of Dragons at the Docks."
