Developer McNamara gets nod for scheme
Bernard McNamara, one of the biggest names of the building boom, is on the comeback trail.
This follows Fingal County Council giving the former billionaire the green light for his Roxtip Ltd to construct 31 homes on lands at Beaverbrook, Donabate in north Co Dublin.
Mr McNamara initially sought planning permssion for 36 homes on the site but in the face of local opposition and concerns by the local authority he has reduced the number of homes to 31. The Donabate area is currently subject to a number of large-scale applications by housebuilders.
Mr McNamara's firm had to submit a raft of additional information to the local authority before it found that the low-density scheme "will not impact on the residential amenities of existing and proposed residential estates in the area".
The council planner in the case concluded that the development is "of a high quality of design and layout".
The council stated that it had given consideration to local concerns. Third parties can appeal the decision to An Bord Pleanála.
