Deliveroo has announced that it will be adding 250 riders to its fleet in Ireland over the coming weeks.

The expansion in Dublin, Belfast and Cork is in response to a rapidly growing demand for the food delivery service since its launch in the capital in 2015.

Deliveroo now partners with 567 restaurants across Ireland, a 54pc increase in the last 12 months.

Currently, the firm now works with 861 riders in Ireland, a growth of 33pc in the last year.

The latest expansion will bring the number of its fleet to well over 1,000 here.

"Our riders are the lifeblood of our business, and it’s great to be in a position to grow our community today with a call out for new riders to come work with our business," General Manager of Deliveroo Ireland Liam Keenan said.

"Ireland is a major success story for Deliveroo and we’re excited by this market and its huge potential.

"We will continue to invest in this important and exciting market, and look forward to further growth in the future."
