Damien Rice firm's cash pile halves

The cash pile at the music firm owned by one of Ireland's best known singer songwriters, Damien Rice, almost halved last year.

New accounts filed by Damien Rice Music Ltd show that it decreased from €599,981 to €303,371 in the 12 months to the end of June last.

The accounts show that pay to directors last year dipped marginally from €112,530 to €103,800. The amount owed by the firm to Mr Rice also decreased last year going from €648,928 to €426,518. The company recorded a profit of €15,689 last year and this followed profits of €29,251 in 2016.

Mr Rice's best-selling 'O' album will be available on vinyl for the first time this summer with the deluxe version already selling out.
