The National Cyber Security Centre and the cyber resilience team within the Central Bank took part in an exercise forecasting future threats focused on how issues such as informational warfare could affect business resilience alongside US financial services giant Mastercard.

Ron Green, the chief security officer at Mastercard, said the exercise took place in Dublin last month. He said the exercise, known as threatcasting, was essentially forecasting threats around 10 years ahead, allowing organisations to understand the steps needed to disrupt, mitigate and recover from future threats.
