Pre-tax profits at the Irish business of Mothercare last year declined by 22pc to €105,768 despite an increase in revenues.

New accounts show that revenues at Mothercare Ireland Ltd increased marginally to €28.5m from €28.47m in the 12 months to the end of March last.

The Irish-owned franchise of the baby and maternity retailer operates from 14 stores around the country.

The directors reported being satisfied with the results for the year and look forward to improving profitability in the coming periods. The workforce at the chain totalled 230 and its staff costs increased marginally to €4.584m.
