Owen Curtin, chairman of Healthcare 21

Cork-headquartered Healthcare 21 has strengthened its UK operations, buying Cardio Solutions.

Founded in 2005, Cardio Solutions distributes cardiothoracic, vascular, electrophysiology and interventional cardiology products through the UK and Ireland.

The price of the acquisition has not been disclosed.

The newly combined business will employ more than 500 staff in Ireland, the UK, and Europe.

Prior to this Heathcare 21 employed 450 staff.

It will have a turnover exceeding €165m.

Owen Curtin, chairman of Healthcare 21, said:  “The inclusion of Cardio Solutions, its expertise, products and portfolio, underpins our goal within the UK and European healthcare sector to be the number one, best in class provider of specialist sales, marketing and technical service solutions.”

Healthcare 21 was advised on the deal by Eversheds Sutherland and Grant Thornton.

The shareholders of Cardio Solutions were advised by the Leeds office of Bevan Brittan and Novis & Co.
