Come Dine With Me serves up ratings boost at TV3
THE success of Come Dine with Me and the controversial spin-off Celebrity Come dine With Me helped fuel TV3's major ratings boost last year, according to TV3 programming chief Ben Frow.
New numbers from Nielsen show that TV3 and sister channel 3e were the only stations to increase market share in Ireland last year. TV3 rose 1.3 per cent to grab 13.14 per cent of the TV market, with 3e jumping 18.8 per cent to 1.33 per cent.
Frow has also attributed the station's third annual increase in market share -- an unprecedented occurrence for terrestrial TV -- to the heightened focus on daytime TV programming ranging from Ireland AM to Xpose.
The figures show that while RTE One largely held its market share at 24.66 per cent, RTE Two plummeted, dropping to just 8.47 per cent -- its lowest ever market share. This is likely to increase this year due to Euro 2012 coverage.
