Athleisure clothing brand Gym + Coffee are planning to open two additional stores in Ireland this year after achieving a revenue target of year-on-year quadruple growth.

Created by three Irish lads - Niall Horgan, Diarmuid McSweeney and Karl Swaine - who were looking to encapsulate and promote the lifestyle they'd enjoyed from international travels, the firm has enjoyed dramatic growth since its launch two years ago.

Interest in and awareness of Gym + Coffee really began to take off following the brand's appearance at Ireland's Wellfest event in 2017, and its Dundrum store - originally intended as a two-week pop-up - has become its flagship base.

In addition to its hub at Arnotts department store, the popular hoodies and other merchandise with the unique plus sign logo will be establishing another bricks and mortar store in Dublin - and a second one in Munster.

"We're starting out with short-term leases with the new stores until we see how sales go but we have entered the new year with confidence following last year's success," Horgan told Independent.ie.

"There was a really strong online performance, particularly over Black Friday week, that grew by ten times the amount of sales we pulled in for the same week in 2017".

Gym + Coffee are also planning on establishing a store in the UK - either in Birmingham or London - before the year is out, and the new stores mean the company expect to employ an additional 30 staff members.

From just three co-founders running the business at this stage last year, the company is celebrating its second birthday with 17 employees and also further expansion across its product lines.

Furthermore, in line with their community, lifestyle and collaboration ethos, Gym + Coffee are launching a new content hub on its site on January 21 based on its Make Life Richer Map.

"This microsite will provide our audience with an interactive map of Ireland that shows the best activities to try, along with our recommendations of independent coffee shops to visit along the way," said Horgan.

"We are looking at an inspirational guide rather than merely informative; most of the events we'll be highlighting are free and all user suggestions are invited and welcome".

Making it an annual event, the Gym & Coffee are inviting guests to join their birthday celebrations with a hike and goal setting event on Wicklow’s Sugar Loaf Mountain next Saturday January 19 from midday.
