Cinema Tickets Smoker life cover Home insurance Motor insurance

Disney's revival of the Winnie The Pooh book in feature animation form hits cinemas this weekend. We've seen it and it's pretty adorable, with a nice kid-to-adult cross appeal. If you're free during the day, it's cheaper for tickets at Omniplex cinemas nationwide. For a family ticket for four:

Best: Omniplex daytime showing €20

Avoid: Cineworld Dublin 18.10pm showing €30

Saving: €10

Smoker life cover

Far be it from Make Me Richer to preach against vices. Let those that are without a Nutella dependency or the occasional Marlboro Lights habit cast the first stone. It's purely your financial health we're concerned with here: you don't just save a fortune on the price of fags if you give up smoking, your life cover cost plummets too. Joint cover of €300,000 for a couple aged 35 over a term of 30 years.

Best: Non-smoker rate, Friends First €47.09 per month

Avoid: Smoker rate, Friends First €91.45 per month

Saving: €532.32 a year

Home insurance

One of the good things about living in an apartment is that building insurance is already included in your management fee. But you still might want to cover contents off your own bat to protect your laptop, jewellery etc from burglary or damage. Home insurance for contents up to €75,000 for an apartment in the IFSC in Dublin 1, worth €200,000, with a standard alarm, for a 30-year-old female.

Best: Chrome Insurance €119

Avoid: Axa €792

Saving: €673 a year

Motor insurance

Will the new owners of Quinn Insurance have better deals for a man-with-a-van? At the moment he can make quite the saving by looking elsewhere for motor cover. For a 40-year-old male plumber living in Thurles, driving a 2011 Ford Transit T 350 LWB, no points, full no claims bonus.

Best: €744.42

Avoid: Quinn Direct €1,714

Saving: €969.58
