Ciaran Mulligan

When Blue Insurance was sold to a global travel insurance and medical assistance provider owned by Zurich Insurance last July, managing director Ciaran Mulligan (46) was the main beneficiary. Under the terms of the deal, €50m was paid up front, with the potential for another €20m dependent on meeting certain criteria. He set up the business in 2003 with Rowan Devereux. However, Mulligan, who owns a home in Co Meath, bought Devereux out of the business in 2014 in a deal that then valued Blue at around €20m.
