Central Bank warns investment firms


THE Central Bank yesterday published a warning notice on Bingham Consulting Group (USA), Swiss Financial Research AG (Switzerland) and Tate and Carver Consultancy Group (USA). The firms are not authorised as investment firms here and have been offering investment services in the State.

Medical facility's billionth milestone


ABBOTT'S Diagnostic facility in Longford has shipped its one billionth medical diagnostic test. The milestone was reached in just six years. Stefan Molitor, site director, attributed the success to the "highly skilled staff of more than 300 employees".

Covidien scoops top EU accolade


IRISH-based healthcare products firm Covidien has been named by the European Commission as the EU's top healthcare equipment and services company in terms of investment in research and development. Covidien was also named as Ireland's second biggest private sector investor in R&D.

Readymix agrees deal to sell assets


READYMIX has agreed a deal to sell certain assets at Cahir, Co Tipperary, to three buyers. It has also announced a deal to sell other non-core assets at Ballitore in Co Kildare. It said KTK Sand & Gravel would now assume the ongoing liabilities of Ballitore in respect of some royalty agreements. Readymix said the deals would not have a significant impact on its cash position.
