TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has announced the creation of 100 new jobs at Carraig Donn in Westport, Co Mayo.
Mr Kenny made the announcement at Dublin's Jervis Centre where the company has just opened a new store.
The jobs will involve the continued expansion at the firm's retail chain of shops and its knitwear manufacturing plant in Mayo.
“The group will continue its planned expansion programme in 2014 and 2015 where a further 100 new jobs will be created. We continue to focus on improving standards and realigning the cost base of the company,” said Carraig Donn managing director Pat Hughes.
The company was founded in 1965 and has 32 stores nationwide employing 450 people. Turnover in 2012 was over €30m.
Opening the shop, Taoiseach Enda Kenny welcomed the jobs adding that Carraig Donn was an example of how indigenous firms can expand in a competitive retail market.
