Fashion, jewellery and giftware retail chain, Carraig Donn, is to create 20 new jobs - with a €1m investment in two new stores and refurbishment of its Liffey Valley shops.

The investment - in Douglas Village, Cork; Mullingar, Co Westmeath; and the current Liffey Valley store in Dublin - is the latest step in Carraig Donn's expansion plan.

It will increase the group's total workforce to 450 and will take the number of Carraig Donn outlets to 36

"We are delighted to be opening stores in Douglas, Mullingar and our newly refurbished store in Liffey Valley," said Pat Hughes, ceo of Carraig Donn. "The new-look Liffey Valley store reflects our commitment to improving the customer experience and enhancing our brand.

"We've already seen the benefit of this investment with double-digit growth in footfall and conversion in recent weeks at the store.

"We hope to replicate this success in our new Douglas and Mullingar stores."

Carraig Donn said trading has gone from strength to strength, and that this latest expansion is "testament to the enduring appeal" of the brand.

The chain says it offers "something different" to the Irish customer in terms of design, quality and price.

"We're excited to be adding these outlets to our nationwide network, just in time for the busy Christmas period," a spokesman said.
