Capping up: Former AIB chief's £3.4m pay dwarfs his Irish deal
Former AIB chief David Duffy's pay package at his current employer Virgin Money hit £3.4m (€3.99m) this year, including "basic salary" of £1.2m plus bonuses and pension entitlements.
It is a stark contrast to AIB where Mr Duffy was CEO from 2011 to 2015 and subject to the Irish Government's €500,000 banking salaries cap.
At its most recent annual shareholder meeting in January a third of shareholders voted against Virgin Money's executive pay policy in a non-binding vote.
