Business brains raise €55k for Dublin homeless
Around €55,000 has been raised by the Business Journalists Association of Ireland (BJAI) for the Dublin Simon Community at their annual Corporate Challenge quiz this week.
This is the 14th year that the Corporate Challenge quiz has taken place and the event has raised more than €405,000 for Dublin Simon Community to date.
Following a tense tie-breaker, TV3 – the overall winners of the quiz – beat competition from Eircom wholesale and other teams to win a Waterford Crystal trophy. The team impressed by scoring a total of 40 points out of a possible 64.
Kelly Crowley, Dublin Simon Community, said the BJAI Corporate Challenge fundraising initiative continues to be a vitally important event for Dublin Simon Community.
"At a time when homelessness is increasing at a frightening rate, we now more than ever rely on independent fundraising initiatives like this to support the work we do and we'd like to express our thanks to the BJAI for being such a long-term partner," Ms Crowley said.
"We also want to thank the many supporters who contributed in their own way to make the event a great success."
Laura Noonan, BJAI chairperson, expressed her thanks to those who took part.
"Every year we do this, we're blown away by the support of companies, sponsors and journalists who give their money, their skills and their time to make the BJAI quiz a really special night that raises much-needed funds for the Dublin Simon Community."
