Brussels sprouts sales up 10 pc

While a selection box or a Terry's chocolate Orange may be nicer, it seems that we can't get enough of brussels sprouts.

Part of the traditional Christmas dinner, brussels sprouts are coming back with a bang. Donnelly Fruit & Veg, one of the largest wholesalers in the country, estimates that sales volumes of sprouts are up 10 per cent this year.

The company, which supplies the likes of Marks & spencer, Superquinn and aldi, forecasts that 2.5 million sprouts will be consumed this Christmas.
