Broadcaster Anton Savage PR firm increased profits to over €700,000
THE public relations agency led by broadcaster Anton Savage last year increased profits to more than €700,000.
This followed another successful year at the Dublin-based Communications Clinic that counts golf superstar, Rory McIlroy as one of its blue-chip clients.
New accounts show accumulated profits at the firm jumped by €65,098 going from €644,191 to €709,289 in the 12 months to the end of March 31 last.
The jump in profits follows a rise of €101,584 in 2015 and an increase of €34,704 recorded in 2014.
The firm's cash last year increased by €33,802 going from €541,326 to €575,128.
The year under review coincided with Mr Savage combining presenting his mid-morning Today FM show that he took over from Ray D'Arcy with being Managing Director of the Communications Clinic.
The accounts cover the 12 months to the end of March last year. Last December, Mr Savage parted ways with the station after falling out with management over the direction of the show.
Mr Savage continues to write a column with the Herald and is now able to devote more of his time to growing the business at the Communications Clinic.
In his work with the Communications Clinic, Mr Savage has advised clients ranging from cabinet ministers, the ceos and chairmen of some of Ireland's largest plcs through to members of the Catholic hierarchy and ceos of global charities.
Communications Clinic clients include KPMG, AIB, the Bank of Ireland, Unicef and DCU.
Expansion costs at the firm last year contributed to the lower profit with the business taking on an additional three staff.
At the end of March last, the firm employed 16 - made up of 12 staff and four directors.
This resulted in employment costs increasing by €195,130 going from €876,449 to €1.071m made up of €1.017m in wages and salaries and €53,887 in social insurance costs
Five directors are listed as Anton Savage's parents, Terry Prone and Tom Savage along with the broadcaster himself, Daragh O'Shaughnessy and Eoghan McDermott.
Directors' remuneration last year increased from €388,031 to €509,215.
All three members of the Savage family worked at Carr Communications before starting the Communications Clinic business in 2008.
