Brindley expands with €5m Tipperary deal
Nursing home group Brindley Healthcare has bought the 81-bed Millbrae Lodge Nursing Home in Newport, Co Tipperary.
The group now operates 10 nursing homes with a combined capacity of almost 600 beds in counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Kildare, Tipperary and Laois.
Although the company did not give an indication of price it is believed it spent more than €5m on the acquisition.
This is Brindley Healthcare's second deal in two weeks, with the group previously announcing the acquisition of the 79-bed Maynooth Lodge Nursing Home in Kildare.
Brindley was established by entrepreneur Amanda Torrens in 2000 with a 35-bed nursing home in County Donegal and now comprises 10 nursing homes, with three in Donegal, two in Kildare, and additional facilities in Galway, Tipperary, Mayo, Kildare and Laois.
Earlier this year, former Tánaiste and Minister for Health Mary Harney was also appointed to the company's board.
Torrens said: "This is Brindley Healthcare's first acquisition in Munster, and lays solid foundations for further investment in the region. Millbrae Lodge is a fantastic nursing home and has set the highest standards in terms of the quality of their care and rapport with both residents and their families."
Additional funding for the Millbrae Lodge acquisition was provided by Ulster Bank.
