BORD Gais says a new initiative launched today could deliver energy savings of up to 20pc for business customers.

The new service will be provided by Bord Gais Energy (BGE) in partnership with Siemens Ireland.

The aim is to improve energy efficiency, through assessment, design, implementation and management, without incurring additional costs.

Once a user's energy needs have been assessed, Siemens and BGE will come up with an energy plan tailored to the user needs and investment capability.

Bord Gais says it can be paid for by the savings made in energy spend within the first few years, and that the most significant advantage of the service will be the ability to tell customers how much they can save, before they commit to any spending.

The initial deal between the two companies is for three years, but it is being viewed as a long-term strategic partnership that will benefit BGE customers now and in the future.

The service will initially be targeted to industrial and commercial customers with high energy usage, but the plan is to roll it out to SMEs over 12 months.
