CAFÉ chain Bewleys is to close its Mary St outlet in Dublin and has sold the leasehold interest of the premises for an undisclosed sum.
The Mary St café which will close next month, was revamped in 1998 as part of a £6.7m refurbishment of three city centre outlets by the Campbell Bewley group.
Last night the company said its five year plan included opening up to 12 new cafes and that new development would be partly funded by the sale. Dan Cronin, group chief executive said changing demands required 'multiple smaller scale units of an exceptionally high quality in key commercial locations'.
"We are now targetting a new range of opportunities," he added."
