BEAR Market Coffee is expanding, with the opening of its fourth coffee shop and first premises in Dublin city centre, as it delivers on a strategic plan to open 10 coffee shops across the city and create 50 new jobs by 2020.

The opening of the new shop on Pembroke Street represents a significant milestone for husband and wife team Stephen and Ruth Deasy, who started the successful company with a stall at Blackrock Market in 2013.

The couple have created 10 new jobs with the opening of the shop, bringing the number of fully trained baristas that the company currently employs to 30.

Bear Market Coffee has enjoyed a loyal following since it opened its first speciality coffee shop in Blackrock, Dublin and its move into the city centre follows the recent opening of coffee shops at the IFSC and George's Court.

"We are in a strong financial position to expand and we are actively looking at other locations across Dublin city.

"Our plan is to move on two other properties over the next 12 months and open 10 coffee shops before expanding into other cities," Ms Deasy said.

Describing their 'grab and go' business model and their commitment to quality coffee as the secrets to their success, Ms Deasy said that customers identify with their experience of starting their business during the recession.

"The name Bear Market Coffee was born out of the recession. The name is part of who we are. People identify with it and it is also one of the reasons why customers love our brand," Ms Deasy said.
