BDO Ireland snaps up consulting firm Eaton Square

Professional services firm BDO Ireland has bought Irish management consulting firm Eaton Square.

Following the agreement, financial details of which have not been disclosed, the company will operate as BDO Eaton Square.

The new business unit will create up to 100 new management consultant jobs, and is aiming to deliver 30pc year-on-year growth over a three-year period, a statement from the company said.

The additional jobs, which will bring the company workforce to 145, will be located across BDO Eaton Square's locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. In addition, the company is aiming to achieve €20m in annual revenues over the three-year period.

"Our motive in merging our existing consulting business with Eaton Square is to create a powerful new force in management consulting, a force that is partner-led and client-focused," said Michael Costello, managing partner at BDO Ireland.

Founded in 2012, Eaton Square was set up to provide a consulting services across a variety of areas including organisation design, strategy development and execution, system integration, and resolution management.

Under the acquisition, Eaton Square employees - including co-founders Aidan McHugh and David O'Connor - will join the BDO Eaton Square team.

Mr McHugh and Mr O'Connor will join the combined BDO Eaton Square team as partners.

"Joining forces now with BDO will further our growth by widening and deepening the expertise we offer to clients," Mr McHugh said.

"Our ambition now, as BDO Eaton Square, is to become Ireland's leading team of management consultants and advisers."

The announcement was welcomed by Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, Heather Humphreys, who described it as another "tangible indication" that Ireland's professional services industry is going from strength to strength.

"BDO and Eaton Square have built an extremely impressive track record supporting companies in Ireland and globally in realising significant growth," she said.

"I have no doubt BDO Eaton Square has a bright future ahead of them and I wish them well in their future endeavours," she added.

BDO Ireland is part of the BDO Group which has offices across the US, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
