Bartra bids to bring shared living to Dún Laoghaire
Richard Barrett's Bartra Capital has made another move to bring the shared-living model to Dublin with an application to build 208 units in Dún Laoghaire.
The developer was recently rebuffed by Dublin City Council, when it tried to build 105 such units in Rathmines in South Dublin.
Shared living is a concept that has only recently been accounted for in planning legislation. It bridges the gap between apartments and student accommodation.
Occupants have their own en suite, but have to share a communal kitchen and living area.
The development will involve the demolition of all the structures on the 2,600 sq m site on Eblana Avenue. It will provide communal dining, living, library, and kitchen areas on each of its floors as well as a gym on the bottom floor.
