Bank lending to homes and businesses continue to decline

BANK lending to homes and businesses continued to drop in April, with total lending down 4pc compared with the same period last year.

Mortgage lending was off 2.5pc while other loans were down 8.4pc, according to new Central Bank figures.



Loans to households fell by €632m in April, in the three months to April households paid back €385m more than they owed.



Business lending was down 1.8pc compared with last year.
