Ardenode hotel goes for auction

The Ardenode Country House Hotel in Ballymore Eustace, Co Kildare, will go under the hammer on September 26 at a guide price of €550,000.

The property is being sold by the Fitzers Catering Group as the hotel no longer fits in with the company's business model. Fitzers' current portfolio includes catering contracts for large venues including Croke Park, Titanic Belfast and Slane Castle.

Sharon Fitzpatrick of Fitzers Catering Group, who lives locally, bought the Ardenode Country House Hotel in 2006 and has since invested €1.5m into a complete overhaul and refurbishment of the building, including work to bring the spectacular manicured gardens set over five acres back to their original level of grandeur.

The hotel has 17 deluxe bedrooms, all individual in size and layout, and a ballroom that can cater for up to 400 guests or 500 guests in theatre style.

There are also two smaller function rooms and the Stud Bar and Grill that can cater for up to 100 guests.

In keeping with its setting, Ardenode enjoys a country charm and cosiness.

Surrounded by attractive views of the Wicklow mountains, nestled among the rolling stud farms of Co Kildare, the hotel is within walking distance of the charming village of Ballymore Eustace while also located just 30 minutes from the M50 and 15 minutes from the N7.

Auctioneer John O'Reilly of Sherry FitzGerald O'Reilly said the hotel was "renowned as a beautiful wedding venue and offers a fantastic opportunity for someone to get involved in the hospitality industry as the house is fully fitted and all contents are included in the sale. Ideally it would suit a couple or family who would live on site to run the business."
