Catering giant Aramark has acquired Lotus Facilities Management to beef up its workplace solutions arm.

Sligo-based Lotus, whose parent company Lotus Automation has a turnover of €34.5m, provides facilities management, project management and services to organisations throughout Ireland, and has €7.8m profits, according to its last filed accounts.

"Lotus FM is an excellent fit with Aramark and this acquisition strengthens our position as Ireland's largest provider of integrated services to Irish and multinational companies throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe," said Donal O'Brien, chief executive of Aramark Ireland.

"Facilities and energy management is experiencing strong growth and we are seeing increasing demand for outsourced facilities management services as businesses and public sector organisations realise the improved effectiveness and value they can realise by having an integrated service platform in place."
