E-commerce giant Amazon is searching for additional office space in Dublin that could cater for as many as 800 employees, according to sources with knowledge of the matter.

The Washington-headquartered company is on the look out for as much as 7,432 sq. meters in Dublin, according to sources that wish to remain anonymous due to the private nature of the information.

When contacted Amazon declined to comment on the matter.

In 2016 the group said that it would bring an addition 500 jobs to Ireland, adding to the staff of 1,400 plus that it already has in Dublin.

A number international companies have this year announced plans to increase their presence in Ireland, included JP Morgan Chase and Barclays Bank, after the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union last year.

Currently the level of vacant office space in Dublin is about 9pc, however this figures falls to less than 1pc for high quality office buildings in prime city centre locations according to a report from Savills estate agent last week.
