BRITISH energy company SSE has announced that it plans to create 100 jobs as part of a €500m investment here.
The owner of Airtricity is taking over the Irish business of Endesa Generacion and also expects that 600 construction jobs will be created over the next two years in various projects.
“Today’s announcement is part of SSE’s long-term commitment to Ireland, serving customers, employing people, and providing a sustainable, secure and competitive supply of energy to power our rapidly growing energy supply business, Airtricity," said SSE director Gregor Alexander.
Taoiseach Enda Kenny, attended the announcement in Dublin today, said the investment was a sign of confidence in the country.
And he added there are ongoing talks with the British government over energy requirements in the future.
