Aertv scores with highest viewing day thanks to the Boys in Green

ONLINE broadcaster Aertv had a better night than the Irish team against Spain with its highest viewing day since launching in October 2011.

More than 10,000 people tuned in to see Trap's men get thumped by the Spanish, with almost one in three (2,914 visitors) using a mobile device to watch the match. Apple's iOS leads as the most popular platform.

Aertv director Philippe Brodeur said: "The whole nation wanted to watch the match and get behind the team -- we know of one viewer who visited Aertv.ie and watched it live from a car park on his smartphone. Most people would have had the big screen experience but Aertv is an invaluable platform to those who can't get in front of a television."

Aertv also live streamed and hosted a Euro 2012 party after Frank McCarthy from Dublin 8 won their "Loudest Living Room" competition.

Meanwhile, Aertv is launching mixed martial arts coverage, having acquired broadcasting rights to show fights from MMA promoter Cage Contender.
