Aer Lingus reports increase in number of passengers
AER Lingus has reported a 3pc increase in the number of passengers it carried in July.
A total of 1,105,000 passengers flew with the airline last month, up 3pc on the same time last year.
The airline said its short-haul passenger numbers last month rose by 1.1pc to 931,000 while its long-haul numbers fell by 3pc to 96,000.
Following the company's joint venture with Aer Arann, passengers flying via regional airports rose by 47.2pc compared to July 2010.
Overall, 78,000 passengers flew on Aer Lingus regional flights last month compared to 53,000 for the same month a year earlier.
However, the airline's load factor -- the number of seats sold as a percentage of those available -- decreased by 1.1pc on July 2010 to 84.7pc.
