Accountant OBI lines up Mazars merger
Limerick firm OBI Accountants is to merge with the Irish operations of global audit firm Mazars.
OBI partners Leo Hudson and Peter Blair and their 12 staff will join Mazars. Mr Hudson said: "We are joining a firm that shares our commitment to developing our staff and supporting our clients, and we are confident of building Mazars in the region to the leading position in the market."

Established in 1995, OBI offers accountancy, payroll, taxation and advisory services to small and mid-sized businesses principally in the mid-west. Mazars has offices in Dublin and Galway, with 27 partners and more than 450 staff. The Paris-headquartered group employs more than 35,000 in 89 countries.
Meanwhile, Irish fintech company Global Shares is creating 50 jobs in Clonakilty, County Cork.
The company - which manages employee share plans for companies - also has opened offices in Cork city, Barcelona, Lisbon, Malta, Nashville and Beijing. Named as Deloitte's "Irish fintech company of the year" in 2017, Global Shares clients include GSK, Gargill, Sage and Italian insurance company Generali.
In 2018 the group received investment, understood to be around $25m, from Motive Partners, a US-based private equity firm.
