FORTY jobs have been saved after one of the biggest Ford dealers in the country was bought out of liquidation.

Joe Duffy Motor Group said it has acquired the assets of Finglas Ford at Exit 5 of the M50 outside Dublin from the liquidator, Jim Hamilton of BDO Ireland. Along with much of the rest of the motor industry, Finglas Ford had struggled during the recession, before falling into liquidation.

In a statement, Joe Duffy said the acquisition "ensures that the future and continuity of the long-standing Dublin Ford retailer has been secured. The business continued from yesterday under Joe Duffy Motor Group ownership with approximately 40 jobs being saved".

The takeover means Joe Duffy Motor Group now trades from eight locations in Dublin, and this latest acquisition will bring the total number employed by the group to around 230.
