200 new jobs set for Waterford medical facility

Ed Carty

Two hundred jobs have been promised by a leading healthcare firm after it announced plans for a new medical devices manufacturing facility.

Nypro Healthcare said it will establish an additional state of the art factory at its Waterford site, with the number of jobs expected to increase in coming years.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced the boost for the south-east along with Jobs Minister Richard Bruton.

"The recent experience of Nypro - reinvention and refocusing on growing sectors, resonates with the wider Irish economy," Mr Kenny said.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Nypro's new facility will manufacture advanced respiratory and injectable devices for global healthcare and pharmaceutical customers.

New jobs for automation engineers and technicians, quality engineers and technicians, operations managers, program managers, team leaders and operators will be available.
