Pharmaceutical giant Glaxosmithkline is laying off 130 of its 700 staff in Waterford, Independent.ie has learned.
As part of the move, 48 jobs are being lost to the company’s Panadol division in Spain.
The company made the decision after a cost-cutting exercise.
The jobs will be lost between now and 2014 and the company has begun discussions with staff following the decision.
It is understood the Dungarvan facility will continue to manufacture a number of brands including Niquitin patches.
