125 new finance jobs for Belfast

A major financial services company is to create 125 jobs in Belfast.

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster announced the plan by Deloitte which will see the new roles established over the next two years.

The firm delivers a range of audit, tax, consulting and corporate finance services to clients across the public and private sectors from offices in Britain and Ireland.

Ms Foster said: "Deloitte continues to work hard to grow its presence in Belfast and this latest investment is a clear endorsement of the skills and infrastructure which Northern Ireland has to offer investors.

"The 125-job expansion will see Deloitte grow to 275 employees in Belfast by 2013.

"The new jobs will generate in the region of £4m annually in additional salaries into the local economy through the provision of high-quality jobs."

The minister added: "These jobs will benefit not just experienced consultants but also graduates who are looking for an opportunity to begin a career within a global organisation."

One hundred of the new jobs will be linked to plans to set up a National Solution Centre, which will focus on software development, testing, analytics and application support.

A further 25 will come from a complementary unit to research and develop best market practices around tax processes and administration.

The announcement comes on the back of the creation of 12 new jobs for the Belfast office at the end of last year following the development of a new pensions team and a business intelligence centre of excellence.

Glenn Roberts, senior partner of Deloitte Belfast, said: "The development of the National Solution Centre and the complementary tax unit represents a significant investment for Northern Ireland and is testament to the skilled workforce here.

"Both developments cement our long-term commitment to supporting the local economy whilst providing our clients with access to some of the most experienced professionals in the marketplace.

"By developing our high-calibre workforce we aim to continue to support our growth ambitions and deliver a quality service to our local and international clients."
