Irish company R&R Mechanical has secured a contract to supply cooling units to power plants in Australia.

The Tullamore-based project is being officially announced by Minister of State for Public Service Reform Brian Hayes later today.

R&R has finished the assembly of its cooling units after four years' work, according to the Tullamore Tribune, with the intention of transporting them to New South Wales early next year.

The Modular Air Cooled Condenser (MACCSol) project has been supported by the EU and Enterprise Ireland.

R&R currently has 36 full-time staff in Offaly with an additional 77 employees based in the UK.

Securing this international contract may well pave the way for similar projects – and the creation of hundreds of jobs globally.
