An important 3-day sale will be held by Sheppards of Durrow from Tuesday, 30 September, to Thursday, 2 October. Categories will include militaria, jewellery, silver, fine art, decorative art, oriental art, and period furniture.

Items include a pair of c19 Dublin carved Gainsborough chairs, a French Empire mantle clock, George I chest on chest, c19 campaign desk, c19 Chinese Chippendale settee, c18 pier mirror, Sino-Tibetan Buddha, Kangxi blue and white bowl, and a c12/13 spirit vase.



An auction of over 700 lots of antiques and fine art will be held by Matthews Auctioneers at The Elms, Upper Main Street, Port Arlington, Co Laois, this Sunday, 28 September, at 2pm. This is an eight bedroom Georgian mansion.

Contents include a Walter Osborne sketch, estimate €300-500; William IV diningroom table, €1,000-1,500; set eight Irish antique Chippendale dining chairs, 6 chairs plus 2 carvers, €600-900; pair very large Irish cut crystal chandeliers, 18 arms, €3,000-5,000; and a gilded Victorian overmantel mirror with unusual inset panel of a heron, €500-800.



Irish and international fine art will be sold by Whyte's at the RDS, Anglesea Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, next Monday, 29 September, at 6pm.

Artists include Sean Keating, William Conor, William Sadler II, George Campbell, Maurice C. Wilks, Paul Henry, John Lavery, Andrew Nicholl, Edwin Hayes, Colin Middleton and Daniel O'Neill.


An auction of Irish art and 20th century Classic Design furniture will be held by de Veres next Tuesday, 30 September, 6pm, at Bewleys Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin 4.

Paintings include examples by artists Sir John Lavery, Mainie Jellett (6), Daniel O'Neill, Paul Henry, Patrick Swift, John Shinnors, Michael Farrell and Mark Francis.

Examples of Design are by Grete Jalk, Philippe Starck, Anne Jacobsen, Louis Weisdorff, Willy Rizzo and Ingmar Relling.



An antiques, fine art and vintage fair will be held at Mount Wolseley Hotel this Sunday, 28 September, noon till 6pm. This Autumn antiques and vintage fair, already in its third year, could now be regarded as an annual event.

Hartnett Antiques will be exhibiting a fine array of antique furniture, in excess of 30 carefully chosen pieces, ranging from a pretty William IV rosewood card table to a Victorian mahogany extending table. Fussy Galore of Carlow will be selling vintage fashion and artist Jane Ryan from Clonmel will be exhibiting original works inspired by by an earlier career as a fashion designer and illustrator.

The Adair Antique Fair takes place this Sunday September 28 from 11am to 6pm at the Woodlands House Hotel in County Limerick. Over 30 stands will be showing in the event organised by Hibernian Antique Fairs.
