Heron makes waves in station

NEWSTALK 106-108 fm has appointed Sorcha Heron as the station's digital editor. In her new role, the Japanese speaker will be responsible for the station's online content and social media strategy.

She joined Newstalk as a journalist in 2005 and was part of the editorial team when Newstalk was awarded its national broadcasting licence in 2006.

In 2008, Ms Heron was appointed producer and worked with Tom Dunne and Orla Barry.

Before her appointment to digital editor, the graduate of Japan's Sonoda Gakuen High School had been acting deputy station editor for the past 12 months.

Commenting on the appointment, Newstalk's station editor Garrett Harte said: "Having invested strongly in our digital platforms, we are seeing exceptional growth in all our digital offerings.

"Sorcha is a valued member of the Newstalk team and I wish her every success in her new role."
