Builders' merchants the Grafton Group posted a 9.6pc revenue rise in 2014, taking in £2.1bn (€2.9bn at today's rates).
The company's pre-tax profit rose 50pc to €101.2m.
The growth was fuelled by a strong performance in the UK caused by growth in the housing repair, maintenance and improvement (RMI) markets, as well as new builds.
It also saw profit growth in its Irish business as the recovery accelerated.
Chief executive Gavin Slark said 2014 "was a year of significant progress for Grafton which recorded its fifth successive year of strong profit growth and met the Board’s ‘first base’ financial targets of an operating profit margin exceeding 5pc and a double digit return on capital employed."
"Given that 2014 was also the first full year of recovery in its major businesses, the overall outlook for the Group is positive," he added.
