Fears grow for the future of 170 jobs at Assurant Solutions call centre
The future of 170 jobs in a call centre in Cork are hanging in the balance after employees were summoned to a management meeting last night.
Staff were told that the company, which set up in Cork in 1999, was conducting a review of its Irish operations that could potentially lead to the closure of its unit at Cork’s Model Farm Road.
An official statement from the company was issued last night explaining that the review follows its acquisition of Lifestyle Services in the UK earlier this year.
“As part of this review, Assurant Solutions is proposing to consolidate its European headquarters, management team, customer care and support functions in Crewe, UK.
“Assurant Solutions is now entering into consultation with associates who are affected by the proposal. It is possible that this proposal could result in the closure of the Cork operation,” read the statement.
President of Assurant Solutions Europe, Chris Harrison, said that the company’s priority “is to ensure that our associates affected by our proposal are treated with dignity and respect throughout the process.”
